Welcome to the Consulate of Malaysia in Zürich

Malaysia’s interests in the Swiss Confederation are principally represented by the Embassy of Malaysia in Bern and the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in Geneva.

In addition, Malaysia maintains Honorary Consulates in Zürich and Basel.

The Consulate of Malaysia in Zürich provides a limited range of consular services to Malaysian nationals residing in the cantons of Zürich and Aargau.

Beyond its consular responsibilities, the Consulate also plays an economic role by supporting and promoting bilateral economic relations between Switzerland and Malaysia.

Dato’ Guna R. Mahalingam was appointed Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Zurich in 2022, reinforcing Switzerland’s strong diplomatic and economic links with Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region.

Dato’ Guna Mahalingam is an accomplished entrepreneur and international investor, serving as Founder & CEO of Strategic Swiss Partners AG, with associated companies operating in the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and China. With over 35 years of experience in the investment and financial services industry, he brings deep expertise in cross-border business development, strategic advisory, and global partnership cultivation.

Rooted in both Switzerland and Malaysia, Dato’ Mahalingam champions multicultural collaboration and has developed a broad network of financial professionals and business leaders. His work focuses on fostering bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation, facilitating trade and investment, and supporting ASEAN-Europe engagement.

In recognition of his significant contributions to international business and ASEAN–Europe relations, Dato’ Mahalingam was awarded the Global Excellent Entrepreneur Award at the Global Chinese Economic & Technology Summit in Cambodia (2024).

He has been conferred two distinguished Malaysian royal honors:
• Darjah Seri Sirajuddin Perlis (SSP) by His Royal Highness DYMM Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Raja of Perlis, XII King of Malaysia
• Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (D.I.M.P.) by His Royal Highness DYMM Sultan of Pahang, Tuanku Abdullah Shah, who also served as the XVI King of Malaysia — carrying the honorific title “Dato’”
