Celebrating Malaysia’s 69th Merdeka with the Malaysian Diaspora in Switzerland
Zurich, Switzerland – 16th September 2026
It was a great pleasure to join the Malaysian diaspora, families, friends and friends of Malaysia in Switzerland in celebrating Malaysia’s 69th Independence Day, “Hari Merdeka”, at the recent celebration organised by the Malaysian Swiss Association (MSA).
The celebration was a wonderful occasion for Malaysians and Swiss friends of Malaysia from different generations and backgrounds to come together, reconnect with our Malaysian heritage and celebrate the warmth, friendship and cultural diversity that make our community so special.
As we continue from Hari Merdeka to Hari Malaysia, we celebrate not only our nation’s independence, but also the unity, diversity and shared spirit that define Malaysia.

As Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Zurich, I am committed to supporting the Malaysian community in Switzerland and to further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, understanding and cooperation between Malaysia and Switzerland.
My sincere appreciation goes to the Malaysian Swiss Association (MSA) for organising the Merdeka celebration and for its continued efforts in bringing the Malaysian community together.
I would also like to express my appreciation to the Embassy of Malaysia in Bern and Malaysian Tourism ( Frankfurt ) for their continued support and commitment to the Malaysian community in Switzerland.
